BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Project 00040722 - With funding from UNDP and DFID, the
General Statistics Office is implementing a project entitled
“Supporting to Socio-Economic Development Monitoring". This
project will seek ways to streamline the data collection and
data use by policy-planners, to strengthen better monitoring
mechanism to assess socio-economic development in Viet Nam
and progress in achieving the MDGs/VDGs.

The vacant full-time one year position of National Project
Secretary, with possible extension, under the above project
is open for Vietnamese nationals:

This position is Hanoi-based and is planned to start in
March 2006.

I. BACKGROUND

Ba Ria – Vung Tau Provincial People’s Committee (BR-VT PPC)
is implementing a 3-year UNDP-funded project entitled
"Coastal and Marine biodiversity conservation and
sustainable use in the Con Dao islands region (2006-2008)”
(Con Dao Project). The project is implemented under National
Execution (NEX) modality of UNDP.

The Con Dao Project has a goal to strengthen local capacity
for marine and coastal biodiversity conservation, improve
the integration of conservation and environmental management
into development planning, establish a sustainable financing
mechanism for biodiversity conservation, and link local
efforts to national strategies and policy development, thus
contributing to the conservation of globally significant
coastal and marine biodiversity.

The project is now seeking qualified candidates for the
following 4 positions to work in Project Office located in
Con Dao district, Ba Ria – Vung Tau province:

POST ANNOUNCEMENT

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Viet
Nam Country Office is seeking a qualified Vietnamese
national for the position of National Programme Officer on
HIV/AIDS Prevention and Care to provide technical guidance
and policy advice to the Government of Viet Nam on the three
UNODC HIV/AIDS key policy and programmatic areas, namely
HIV/AIDS prevention and care related to (a) drug dependence,
particularly injecting drug use; (b) confined settings such
as prisons and compulsory drug treatment centres; and (c)
trafficking in human beings.
