INTERPRETER/TRANSLATOR POSITION – IFC HANOI OFFICE

Position: Interpreter/Translator

Location: Hanoi Vietnam

Contract: Up to 150 days per fiscal year

Job Description:

The incumbent has multiple responsibilities in assisting and facilitating the work of the IFC Vietnam office. Major duties and accountabilities include:

· provide language interpretation and translation support to Country Manager, Investment Officers and other staff at meetings and other occasions as needed;
· translate project related and administrative documents from Vietnamese into English or vice versa;

· help prepare presentations for Country Manager and other staff in both languages;
· provide language as well as logistical support to visiting mission staff ;
· liaise with government institutions including setting up meetings with appropriate officials;
· provide assistance to assigned supervisor(s) including managing supervisors' calendar, facilitating and arranging meetings, organizing and coordinating workshops/ conferences, taking minutes/notes;
· provide other general administrative assistance as required such as proofreading;
· perform other duties as required.

Selection Criteria:

· University degree or equivalent training, and a minimum of three years of translation and interpretation experience.
· Superior knowledge of spoken and written English and Vietnamese.
· Effective interpersonal and communications skills and ability to interact tactfully with people of all levels.
· High degree of initiative, adaptation, flexibility and judgment.
· Demonstrated ability to work independently and efficiently to handle several tasks simultaneously and to establish priorities, assume responsibility and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
· Proficiency in the use of standard information technology (MSWord, Excel, Power-point, Lotus Notes, Web-browsing).
· Ability and willingness to work overtime if and when required.
· Formal interpretation training would be an advantage.
