WHO Jobs: national to work full-time as Programme Officer to support the Child health programme
WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION VIET NAMVACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The World Health Organization (WHO) in Viet Nam is seeking a
Vietnamese national to work full-time as Programme Officer
to support the Child health programme. This position is for
one year and will be based in WHO’s Ha Noi office.
Duties and responsibilities:
1) To facilitate the implementation of the Regional Child
Survival Strategy and enhance collaboration among various
existing stakeholders in the area of child health in Viet
Nam.
2) To provide technical support to the Ministry of Health in
the implementation of the WHO/Government Plan of Action on
child health and nutrition and ongoing activities such as
Young Infant IMCI algorithm evaluation study, development of
strategic directions in neonatal health and Infant and Young
Child Feeding.
3) To organise and facilitate meetings and reviews of child
health activities in Viet Nam including drafting of reports
and assessments of implementation and progress.
4) To perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
- Advanced degree in health or related fields, or equivalent
knowledge
- Strong analytical skills, good knowledge and experience on
health administration and planning
- Practical experience in child health and nutrition
- Ability to work harmoniously as a member of a team, adapt
to diverse educational and cultural backgrounds and maintain
a high standard of personal conduct
- Good communication, liaison, representational and
interpersonal skills and an ability to work with limited
supervision and meet deadlines
- Fluency in written and spoken English and proficiency in
office software applications
- Willingness and capacity to travel in-country
- Working knowledge and experience with Government agencies
- Experience in the UN system would be an advantage
