RFA is seeking an evaluation and training coordinator in our
Department of Research, Training and Evaluation.
Responsibilities include:

- Plan and coordinate the internal management process used
to evaluate the programming produced by RFA’s nine language
services and Web sites.

- Schedule evaluation meetings and manage all logistical
arrangements for regular 3-hour evaluation sessions of
language service programming.

- Coordinate with RFA management in selecting programs/pages
for evaluation and identifying appropriate expert
evaluators.

- Analyze Web traffic statistics for Web evaluation
sessions; maintain records of evaluation results and track
progress in accomplishing goals.

- Assist department director in all aspects of RFA’s
journalism training program, including planning, logistics
and follow-up.

- Track expenditures and manage contracts and invoices
related to evaluation and training programs. Provide general
administrative support to the department.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree, experience in Asia or with Asian
studies and demonstrated ability to handle complex
administrative tasks effectively.

- Solid written English skills and knowledge of one of RFA’s
broadcast languages.

- Experience working in a multi-lingual and/or
multi-cultural environment, media background and knowledge
of Internet traffic metrics all are pluses.

RFA is seeking an audience research specialist for our
Department of Research, Training and Evaluation.

Responsibilites include:

- Help plan and coordinate the research process aimed at
learning about RFA’s current and potential audiences in
Southeast Asia and the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.

- Assist in all aspects of research concerning RFA's
Burmese, Lao, Vietnamese, Khmer and Uyghur programming on
both the radio and the RFA Web site, including survey
questionnaire design and the selection of programming and
Web materials for qualitative projects.

- Serve as a departmental liaison with the above five
language services.

- Provide customized analysis of quantitative and
qualitative data from projects in Burma, Laos, Vietnam,
Cambodia and the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.

- Use audience research data to assist broadcasters and
editors as they work to design programs that appeal to and
are understood by target audiences.

- Provide RFA management with research information used in
strategic planning, including media use trends and analysis
of Web traffic.

- Coordinate efforts to maintain in-house databases that
track listeners’ letters and calls to Southeast Asian
services.

Qualifications include:

- Bachelor’s degree including some training in statistics
and/or social science research methodology.

- Solid written English skills and knowledge of one of the
relevant RFA broadcast languages.

- Understanding of history and politics of target counties;
media experience; skills relating to audio editing, Web site
traffic metrics, and database analysis are pluses.

- Experience using statistical software such as SPSS or
STATA desirable.
