Re: Tickets for Peter Yarrow concerts in Ho Chi Minh City,
Hue and Hanoi
Dear friends and colleagues,
As you may have heard, Peter Yarrow (of the famed folk group
Peter, Paul and Mary) will return to Vietnam next month.
His concert performance schedule, organized by the Vietnam
Performing Arts Agency of the Ministry of Culture and
Information, cosponsored by FRD and the Vietnam-USA Society,
is:
18 September Opera House Ha Noi
22 September Hung Dao Theater Hue
25 September Opera House Ho Chi Minh City
If you attended Peter’s concert in Hanoi or exchange of
songs at the conservatory in Ho Chi Minh City last March,
you will know how extraordinary and engaging his
performances are. This time we will add to the cultural
exchange dimension by including the participation of Quang
Dung in Hanoi and HCMC and another singer in Hue.
In order to assure that seats are available to all who are
interested, and to more effectively raise funds, FRD will
make the tickets that it holds for each concert available to
donors who provide support for the expense of organizing the
concerts and for efforts to address war legacies in Vietnam.
Advance donations to FRD will be used:
* to cover FRD’s costs of organizing the concerts and work
in Viet Nam
* for Peter and FRD’s educational campaign on the
consequences of war and responsibility to address them
* to supplement voluntary contributions collected at the
concerts for victims of Agent Orange
While donations of any size are welcome, we suggest the
following amounts:
$10 per person general admission
$100 to receive 2 front section tickets
$250 to be listed in the concert program as a “friend” (and
receive 4 front section tickets)
$500 to be listed in the concert program as a “supporter”
(and receive 8 front section tickets)
$1,000 to be listed in the program as a “patron” and thanked
from the stage (and receive up to 16 tickets)
Persons donating $100 or more are invited to meet Peter
after the concert back stage or at a reception.
Donations may be made no later than three days before a
performance on line at www.ffrd.org/support.html or by
transfer to FRD’s account in Citibank, 51, Ly Thai To,
Hanoi, account number 0/200014/006, ABA 021000089, CHIPS
UID# 356377. Donation amounts over $10 are tax deductible
in the US. After making a donation electronically, please
send an e-mail to <hanoi@ffrd.org>, stating the amount
contributed, number of tickets requested and for which
performance(s). Tickets will normally be held at the door.
Donations can also be made, and tickets received, at any of
the following locations:
FRD office Hanoi: 15 Nguyen Gia Thieu, tel. (04) 822-9646,
e-mail hanoi@ffrd.org
FRD partner, Hue (to be announced); FRD partner, HCMC (to
be announced)
Seldom does one have an opportunity like this to enjoy a
wonderful evening, contribute to its existence, and provide
assistance to those who still suffer as innocent victims of
war.

18 September Opera House Ha Noi
22 September Hung Dao Theater Hue*
25 September Opera House Ho Chi Minh City
Last March Peter Yarrow, of the famed American folk music
group “Peter, Paul and Mary”, inspired an audience at the Ha
Noi Opera House, and delighted disabled children and
veterans at Friendship Village. Now, this September, he
brings his musical message of peace, mutual respect and
personal ethical accountability back to Vietnam, paired with
renowned singer Quang Dung in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City.
(* A different well known performer will join Peter in Hue.)
.
Contributions will be collected at concerts for the benefit
of Agent Orange victims. A limited number of reserved seats
have been set aside, with special thanks, for pre-concert
donors. Additionally, the performers will host an
after-concert event for special supporters of Peter's and
FRD’s efforts to advocate responsibility for the legacies of
war, including Agent Orange, land mines, and unexploded
ordnance. For ticket information, visit

“No American folk group has lasted longer or amassed a more
loyal following than Peter, Paul and Mary; indeed, few
groups of any genre have logged more years (43) or miles
(countless) in direct, yearly touring; spreading the message
and engaging the next (now four) generations. During its now
legendary career, the trio won five Grammys, produced five
Top 10 albums and 13 Top 40 hits, of which 6 ascended into
the Top 10 - as well as six gold and three platinum albums.
That PP&M achieved such a rarefied level of commercial
success without compromise, and while continuing a
centuries-old tradition of people raising their voices in
song for the sake of freedom, is simply further evidence of
their extraordinarily successful career -- as much a mission
accomplished as a musical career”
