Description:
The Rockefeller Foundation is a knowledge-based,
global foundation with a commitment to enrich and
sustain the lives and livelihoods of the poor and
excluded throughout the world. The program vision at
the Foundation includes four thematic lines of work -
Creativity & Culture, Food Security, Health Equity and
Working Communities. A cross-theme of global inclusion
supports, promotes and supplements the work of the
themes. In addition, the Foundation supports a number
of regional and special programs, among them the
Africa Regional Program, and the Southeast Asia
Regional Program. The Foundation has Offices in New
York City and San Francisco in the U.S. as well as
regional offices in Bangkok, Harare, Mexico City, and
Nairobi.
The Rockefeller Foundation is currently seeking an
Associate Director for its office in Bangkok who will
have overall responsibility for providing thematic
leadership in the development of programs related to
the Creativity & Culture theme and the Southeast Asia
Region.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide programmatic leadership in the development and
overseeing of existing and future programs in
Creativity & Culture in Southeast Asia, especially in
the Greater Mekong Sub-region Oversee management of
grantee relationships associated with program
responsibilities Contribute to the strategic thinking
and program development of the broader Creativity &
Culture theme Contribute to the regional programming
efforts aimed at enriching and sustaining the lives
and livelihoods of the poor and excluded in the
Greater Mekong Sub-region, and more generally
Southeast Asia Attend to operational, administrative
and personnel functions as specified by the regional
representative (may have supervisory responsibility
for support staff) Ensure that all grants and
operations are in compliance with relevant laws and
are consistent with Foundation policies and procedures
Discharge other duties, as assigned by the Director,
Creativity & Culture or the Regional Representative
for Southeast Asia.
Qualification:
An advanced degree or equivalent in a field relevant
to the arts and the humanities Minimum of seven years
work experience in the arts and the humanities of
Southeast Asia (Appropriate expertise includes:
management responsibilities in an arts or cultural
organization; teaching and/or research in the arts and
humanities at a college or university; and employment
as a programming officer in the arts and humanities at
a philanthropic organization) A good understanding of
the socio-political challenges and dynamics of
Southeast Asia, and in particular, of the Greater
Mekong Sub-region Extensive experience in Southeast
Asia, especially in the Greater Mekong Sub-region, and
a strong willingness to live and work there
Demonstrated expertise in program development and
implementation, including networking with government,
NGO, private sector, research and donor communities
Excellent inter-personal, team, management,
administrative, communication and computer skills
Excellent written and spoken English; fluency in one
of the primary languages of Southeast Asia desirable
Ability to motivate staff through effective
leadership, mentoring, coaching, development,
facilitation, evaluation and rewards Commitment to
RF's mission and core values of equity, fairness,

creativity, humility and respect and honesty and
integrity Flexibility to travel extensively within the
